Air Slip Billet / Slab Casting Table
The air slip billet or slab casting table is a semi-continuous casting system used in aluminum alloy melting and casting lines, typically for direct chill (DC) casting. It is designed to cast molten aluminum into round billets or rectangular slabs of specified sizes.
By combining air slip technology with direct water cooling, the casting table cools and solidifies molten aluminum into aluminum billets or slabs with improved surface quality.
- During casting, a small amount of gas, together with lubricating oil, is introduced evenly through micropores along the inner surface of the mold. This forms a thin air cushion between the mold wall and the solidifying aluminum.
- Combined with direct water cooling, the air slip system allows the molten aluminum supplied from the holding furnace to cool and solidify into billets or slabs during the casting process.

The air cushion significantly reduces direct contact and friction between the aluminum and the mold wall, helping prevent surface scoring during casting. - Improved Casting Quality
Reduced friction helps improve the surface quality of cast billets and slabs while also supporting a more uniform internal structure.
